PROGRAM DESIGN

 To assure comprehensiveness, the program comprises of platform training, vision trips, technical assistance and on-call consultation.  There are seven sessions consisting of about 42 hours of training during the months of February through April 2003.  Ongoing technical assistance and on-call consultations are provided throughout the training period.  There are three modules in the training covering community understanding, organizational development, and project design and implementation.

 

Module I:  Community Understanding

In this module, the participants will learn the essentials for a successful community outreach ministry, including:

  •  Develop a clear understanding of the biblically principles of community outreach.

  •  Understand the different dimensions of community needs and resources.

  •  Be trained to conduct comprehensive community analysis.

  •  Be given the tools to mobilize and collaborate community resources (Asset mapping).

  •  Develop cultural awareness and learn strategies for reconciliation and co-existence.

Module II: Organizational Development

Sound organizational infrastructure, with active leadership (Board of Directors) along with well-defined staff responsibilities, is the key to an effective organizational development.  This module provides instructions on such topics as:

  •  Principles for effective organizational development.

  • Ways to develop effective board of directors

  • Strategic thinking and strategic planning for organizational development

  • How to be successful in fundraising

  • And more.

 Module III: Project Development

Designing and implementing appropriate community outreach ministries (development projects), and the allocation of resources in response to community and organizational needs are very critical for a successful community outreach ministry.  This module focuses on:

  • Charitable Choice and Faith-base Initiative.

  •  How to design successful community development projects.

  •  Ways to implement and manage community outreach ministries.

  •  How to monitor and evaluate community outreach ministries.

  •  How to recruit and manage volunteers.

  •  And more.

Practical Assignments: To reinforce learning, practical assignments are given at the end of each module to help the participants apply what they have learned. Mentoring and technical assistance are provided during and beyond the training period. 

 

EVALUATION

The program is evaluated throughout the training period to ensure quality control and successful implementation.  Also, a post-training process and impact evaluation is conducted with both the trainers and the participants. 

 

GRADUATION

A graduation ceremony concludes the training. The celebration is our way of congratulating the participants for their achievements and announcing their readiness to take on issues in their communities. Leaders of other community-based organizations, foundations, banks, political representatives, and many others are invited to the ceremony.

 

FACULTY

Our faculty is made up of professionals who specialize in the field of community-based development. They combine experience with expertise in their presentations and technical assistance to the participants.
