Leadership and Organizational Development Training

Mondays through Wednesdays in June 2003

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

This is a well-rounded training program that has helped many churches to become more effective in their community outreach. The purpose of the training is to enhance the capacity of church-based organizations to restore spiritual, social, and economic hope and wholeness in their communities. Participating organizations learn how to plan, design, implement, and manage community outreach ministries.

PROGRAM DESIGN

Module I: Community Understanding

This module, entails the essentials for a successful community outreach ministry, including:

ü Biblically principles of community outreach.

ü Dimensions of community needs and resources.

ü Comprehensive community analysis.

ü Mobilizing and collaborating community resources (Asset mapping).

ü Cultural awareness and strategies for co-existence.

Module II: Organizational Development

This module entails the key to effective organizational development and instructions on topics included:

ü Principles of church-based organizations

ü Developing effective board of directors

ü Strategic thinking and planning

ü Successful fundraising strategies

ü Writing a winning grant proposal

Module III: Project Development

This module focuses on designing and implementing appropriate community outreach ministries.

ü Charitable Choice and Faith-base Initiative.

ü Designing successful community development projects.

ü Monitoring and evaluation of community outreach ministries.

ü Recruiting and managing volunteers.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

We recommend this training for pastors, ministry leaders and staff. The training is also excellent for members of the board of elders/directors and seminary/Bible college students preparing to go into church-based community development. We encourage each participating church/church-based organization to send two vested persons to attend the training.
